January 2010: Cowater Awarded Contract to Support Corruption Prevention in Indonesia
The Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) recently awarded Cowater a new five year, $11 million contract for a project called “Support to Indonesia’s Islands of Integrity Program for Sulawesi” (SIPS). The project, with the financial support of the Government of Canada, aims to contribute to good governance in Indonesia by improving the capacity of government and civil society to develop and implement policies, processes and systems for effective decentralized service delivery. The purpose of SIPS is to identify, implement and showcase transparent and accountable practices in local government operations in Sulawesi with the aim of reducing opportunities for corruption.
This latest project demonstrates Cowater’s commitment to development in Indonesia, and builds on other current Cowater projects in the country. For more information on Cowater’s work in Indonesia or other countries, please visit www.cowater.com/projects-experience.cfm.
